What If The Resurrection Never Happened?
Sunday Morning Meditation, (1 Corinthians 15:12-19), 4.20.2025
Good morning everyone!
Happy Resurrection Sunday! Have you ever considered what life and history would have been like if Jesus never rose from the dead? Imagine if the tomb continued to contain the remains of Jesus Christ and if when Christ was declared dead, he stayed dead. Imagine if there was no resurrection? By God’s grace we don’t have to contemplate what that would have been like, because Jesus is risen. Notice the usage of is, and not has. Jesus is still alive and is seated at the right hand of the Father. (Ephesians 1:20, Heb 1:3). Jesus is still calling lost sheep to himself, and is still freeing souls from the slavery of sin. And all this because Jesus never stayed in that tomb. May we be filled with gratitude and joy today as we rejoice in and reflect on the resurrection. Praise God that Christ is risen! Hallelujah he’s alive!
1 Corinthians 15:12-19
Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.
