Good morning everyone!
Obedience, especially from child to parent, is often looked at as a burden more than it is a blessing. Yet, based on Ephesians 6:1-4, to obey is to enter into the realm of God’s blessing. Additionally, obedience from child to parent is ultimately obedience from child to God. In addition to the child’s responsibility to obey, Ephesians 6:1-4 also highlights the responsibility of parents to discipline and instruct their children with patience, gentleness, and love. Parents ought to show their children the same grace that they have been shown. Today, let’s pray for hearts that seek to view obedience to God as a blessing and not a burden. God has given us certain instructions for our good, and we ought to joyfully obey his commanded intents. Enjoy your time of worship this morning at church!
Ephesians 6:1-4
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother (this is the first commandment with a promise), that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land. Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
